Reciting a passage from the Quran at the start of his speech, Sharif said he was honored to be representing Pakistan at the General Assembly for the second time. He expressed his congratulations to Dennis Francis, the recently elected president of the UNGA, and reiterated Pakistan's unwavering adherence to the UN Charter.
Sharif added, "Pakistan stands by the United Nations Charter and we remain committed to peace and prosperity for the globe, as declared by our founding father, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

Referring to the current Israeli assault of Gaza as a "genocidal war" and a humanitarian disaster, Prime Minister Sharif denounced the action. He called for an end to the bloodshed and depicted in graphic detail the misery endured by Palestinian civilians, especially women and children.
Sharif remarked, "We are heartbroken by the tragedy that is taking place in the Holy Land." "This is not just a fight; it's an attack on the fundamental qualities of human life and dignity as well as the deliberate killing of innocent people."
In an appeal to the world community to put an end to the carnage and pursue a two-state solution that would create a sovereign Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders and with East Jerusalem (Al-Quds Al-Sharif) as its capital, Sharif called for the creation of this state.
